ANIMAL FIGURINES COLLECTION
The very first figurines to be made at the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory were created in the mid-eighteenth century by Dimitry Vinogradov, the father of Russian porcelain. He fashioned a porcelain bear, and to this day figurines are still made to his original techniques - hand-made out of "soft" or "hard" porcelain. Almost all of them are painted by hand in underglaze or over-glaze. There is a wide variety of animal figurines such as cats, dogs and horses; also exotic representations of African and Arctic wildlife.
